There are many different conditions today that were not recognized just ten or twenty years ago. There are some who still do not recognize them as a real problem. These might be the higher functioning type of autism known as Asperger’s, Candida yeast problems, chronic fatigue syndrome, Fibromyalgia, and even attention deficit disorder. Some doctors are willing and able to make this type of diagnosis, and yet others refrain from putting a label on some with the associated symptoms. That means the information out there is limited, and it also means that concerned patients need to look for case study research when they want information.
Case study research can usually be found online for any condition. The problem is that some of it is hard to read, and that is why so many are confused. Add this to some doctors who are completely closed minded, and it’s no wonder so many are so frustrated. Though the legitimacy of these conditions might be in question, there should be no reason for a doctor to dismiss someone’s fears purely because they don’t believe in the condition in question. When faced with such a doctor, the best thing to do is to find another. If that is not an option, print out case study research and ask the doctor to discuss it. That won’t always help, but it might help with getting fears and thoughts validated in some way.
When looking for case study information, it is always a good idea for someone to keep an open mind. Looking for more than one case study is always good idea to see if the results are related, or if they are completely different. For a long time many women believed that they had PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) but doctors would not call it a real condition. Thanks to case studies, more research was done and today it is a common diagnosis when appropriate.
Some take their case study research information in to their doctors. It might not help much, but if a doctor completely ignores it, they should at least explain why, and also, validated their reasons for refusing to consider what a patient is trying to say. Though some things are definitely borderline conditions, there might be some truth the symptoms and experiences that all seem to be the same for patient after patient. It doesn’t have to have a name, but treatment is still needed. That is the important thing.
