Rain Suits

If you know there is a chance of rain, but you insist on going about your day like you should, you will probably want to find good rain suits to have with you at all times. These are something you can have in your trunk so that they are always there. I realize that when you go to work or the store an umbrella will suffice, but what happens when you are out fishing, hiking, or doing anything else outside? My husband is an avid fisherman, and a nice downpour never seemed to stop him. He often says that the rain helps, and sometimes that is when he gets the most bites.

Though I don’t often go fishing with him, there are times when I like to do so. I take book and a camera and enjoy the outdoors while he fights with his fish. There was one day when we got up very early and headed out. I wish I had rain suits with me at the time, because I not only got soaked, I got caked in mud. My dad and my brother were with us. We had gone to a river to fish. I think by time the day was over we were all wishing for rain suits. We all were a muddy mess.

It rained rather hard, and I put my camera away in the car so it wouldn’t get wet. I got bored sitting in the car though, and I wished we had brought rain suits with us. I finally got out of the car and put my hood up. It was one of those rains that soaks you to the bone rather quickly. The drops were huge and came fast. They kept fishing, though they did stare enviously at the people a few hundred feet away who had remembered to bring rain suits.

At one point I walked over to the edge of the river where my dad and my husband were standing. Not only should we have had rain suits, we should have had better shoes. I slipped on the mud and landed in the river. My dad couldn’t contain his laughter as he helped me up. He laughed even harder when I barely got to my feet and slipped again, this time taking him with me. Though the rain suits wouldn’t have saved me from the river, they might have helped with the mud. Our cars were a mess by the time we got home.
