Most of the electronic items you get will come with an owners manuel. These are something that most people toss aside, but I have learned that this is not a good idea. Once when I was cleaning out my closet I came across a stack of them that I had stored in there. I opened one up and started flipping through it. Within five minutes I learned something new about my television that I had never known. It was a great feature, and I wouldn’t have known about it if I had not opened the owners manuel for a look.
The owners manuel should have information on warranty and should also have what you need to register your product if you want to do so. You should always take advantage of any warranty offered, and you will have to make sure you read what it covers and what it does not. The owners manuel should tell you what you have to do it something goes wrong. If you don’t follow the instructions you may void the warranty. If you don’t understand something, don’t be afraid to find the number provided in the book so that you can give them a call.
When you first open something you are excited to get it up and running, that I understand, but you should make sure you leaf through the owners manuel before you go too far. Though you may already know how to use what you have, chances are good that you don’t know everything your new items can do. When I read though the owners manuel that came with my digital camera I found a host of features that I didn’t know existed, though I did have a general idea about what the camera could do. There are things that my camera can do that have come in very useful, and I wouldn’t have otherwise known where there.
You should find a good safe place, and each time you get a new owners manuel you should stash it with the ones that you already have so you know where to find them. You don’t have to keep them in easy reach, but you should always know where they are. If you lose an owners manuel, you can sometimes contact the company to get a new one, and in some cases you can find a copy of it online to read through or download for printing.
