Month to month rental agreement

No one forgets the time they finally moved out of their parent's home. They were stoked at the possibilities. Suddenly the entire world was laid out before them and they could just taste the freedom. Yeah, I remember it all quite clearly. Then something hit me. How in God's name was I going to pay for everything, and why didn't anyone tell me there would be so many bills? I had the month to month rental agreement, the phone bill, car insurance, food, and even cable. This stunk! I was broke and barely getting by. At that point my old bedroom back home was looking ideal. But, life doesn't work that way. We can't lounge about in our parents' home forever. Did I mention the security deposit you have to put down when you rent? ARG!

Get ready for some stress. This comes standard when you reach adulthood. I never had a drop of it as a child, but once I stepped into the real world, the stress monster attacked with full power. I was suddenly worried about my month to month rental agreement and losing my apartment. After all, what if I couldn't pay rent next month? That would mean living like a bum in cardboard boxes and eating out of trash cans. I simply couldn't handle the stress of it all. That's when I decided to get a roommate. I was occupying a two bedroom apartment at the time. Getting a roommate just made sense. This pulled a heavy load off my shoulders. I was no longer burdened with paying a fat month to month rental agreement every month. Now it was only half. However, this can get hairy if you have a poor or lazy roommate. What if he/she decides not to pay? That could also mean eviction. Luckily I chose the right roommate and all went smoothly. He never missed a payment.

Fortunately I now own a home. This is the place every human being should strive for. Although that month to month rental agreement may have looked good at one time, it's not so sweet when you actually ponder what you get in return. Nothing! Nothing tangible anyway. That month to month rental agreement you concur with and pay toward every month doesn't get you anywhere. Once you move out, it's like you've been staying in a hotel for a long stretch. You leave with only your belongings. All I have to say is; don't rent too long. Buying is much wiser!
