Each night when we lay down to go to sleep, there is one thing we can count on. It's not that we'll wake up and have to use the bathroom and 3am, and it's not the covers ending up on the floor. It's good old-fashioned dreaming. This is a certainty. There's no way around this inevitable enigma. I don't care if you recall them or not, but you had dreams last night. I can still remember how bizarre one of mine was. It often seems that they don't make sense. However, in some bizarre way, they probably do. Maybe they're linked to our desires or our fears. Or maybe they're just a recap of something that occurred in the past. Now, what if you could control your dreams, and possibly make them go your way? This is referred to as lucid dreaming. It's hard to believe we now have a pill for it.
I can't get over the concept of lucid dreaming. It's phenomenal, yet eerie. A part of me feels that dreams are simply wild, and there's no controlling them. They tap into our subconscious and that's the way it's supposed to be. In my personal opinion, I think dreams inform us of certain things that we'd never know or see while awake. This is awesome. Granted not all dreams are good dreams, but we have to accept the good with the bad in life. So, what about this lucid dreaming concept? As it turns out, folks have been researching the dreaming process, and trying to develop a way to control dreams. Of course this doesn't necessarily mean pinpointing a particular subject or person in a dream, but rather making dreams more vivid and memorable. I know what you're thinking. Is this a safe process and why would I want it? To be completely honest, I don't know. Regardless of many studies and experiments done, I often still doubt drugs and medical procedures. Basically what I'm stating is lucid dreaming is not for me. You won't see me taking a pill before bed.
Some individuals may require lucid dreaming medications. I can't speak on everyone's behalf. Sadly some folks suffer from night terrors and other tragic reoccurring dreams. If this is you, then maybe lucid dreaming is something you should look into. As Aerosmith said; Dream On!
