What is one of the first features you notice when looking at someone's face? Their eyes, of course. A recent survey showed that eye color is the feature women most notice about men. You may hear one woman talking to another, saying “Would you say his eyes are greenish blue, or more of a bluish green?”. On the other hand, men may wax poetic on a womans eye color. He might say, “Her eyes are like pools of light”, or that she has big, beautiful doe eyes. Some of us may be less than satisfied with our natural eye color. Luckily, we have color contacts to change all that today. Not more than fifty years ago, if a person didn't like their eye color, it was just too bad.

Color contacts allow you to change their entire feeling and look. If you have light skin and eyes, you may want dark contacts to provide a mysterious and exotic look. Dark skinned and dark haired people may want blue or green contacts, which give a pleasing brightness to the face. The general rule of thumb is to choose a color which contrasts with your natural complexion, making your eyes stand out in a crowd.

Contrary to popular belief, not all color contacts are uncomfortable. A new, gel-like material is on the market today. With a soft, breathable, and airy quality to it, some people swear they can not even feel it.

When getting a new pair of color contacts, always keep in mind that you will need an eye examination to determine if you need a prescription lens. Some people have a slight curvature of the eye, known as astigmatism. In this case, a non-prescription lens could prove uncomfortable or downright painful. If you've had an eye exam quite recently, your optometrist may just fill your last prescription for your new color contacts.

Once you've got your new color contacts, don't hit the party just yet. You won't look too attractive with a nasty eye infection. Treatment and care of your new color contacts is important. Your new contacts come with a little case, with individual compartments for each lens. Every night, place your lenses in a sanitary solution especially designed for contact lenses. The case should be cleaned every day, without fail, so there will be no chance of a wayward staph germ getting into your eyes.

If you want to impress that special someone, get a pair of color contacts! They are simple enough, with only an eye exam needed. You may want to intensify your natural eye color, or make a sharp contrast to your complexion. Whatever your choice, remember to always practice sanitary habits, and clean your lenses daily.
